The City of Jamestown is preparing for Saturday’s Christmas on the Square.
Jamestown City Clerk Tyler McGowan told WJRS News drivers should expect the Jamestown Square to be closed off to traffic beginning at around 3:30. McGowan gave some details about the traffic pattern for the event.
Traffic should reopen around the square at around 9:30 or so Saturday night.
One of the key events of Christmas on the Square each year is the lighting of the community Christmas tree. McGowan spoke to WJRS News about how the tree makes its way to Jamestown and the work involved with getting it ready for Christmas on the Square.
The annual event gets underway at 4:00 Saturday with a ceremony on the courthouse steps recognizing, Adair, Wayne and Cumberland counties for providing the land that was used to create Russell County in December 1825.
Christmas on the Square will also include photos with Santa, ice skating, carriage rides, performances, vendors and more.
