The issue of a boat received by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office through a grant a few years ago became a topic at yesterday’s fiscal court meeting.
Magistrate Larry Skaggs brought up the issue, citing the cost of storing the boat. Around $3,600 is paid annually in storage fees for the boat.
Magistrate Mickey Garner originally made a motion to give the boat to the Russell County Rescue Squad. After some further discussion about whether the grant requirements would allow such a move, the motion was amended to reflect that the boat would be moved to the rescue squad and would be a boat available to multiple agencies.
The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.
