Local and state law enforcement were called out Sunday afternoon after multiple calls came in to dispatch of gun shots at the Russell Springs City Park.
Multiple youth sports teams were playing at the park, and the park was cleared as law enforcement investigated the scene.
According to reports from witnesses at the park, someone at the park was carrying a metal folding chair near the bottom field at the park and the chair was struck by a bullet.
WJRS News was told Sunday evening the situation had been resolved, and a person near the park was reportedly shooting for target practice. WJRS News is told state police is leading the investigation and will determine whether charges are filed against the individual who fired the shots.
