Kentucky State Police is investigating a murder that occurred in McCreary County late last week.
36-year-old Damian A. Poole of Monument, Colorado, was reported missing, prompting an investigation by the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies contacted Kentucky State Police Post 11 Thursday evening.
During a search of Poole’s reported residence on Farm Ridge Road in Stearns, deputies discovered a deceased individual along with two dead animals.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
39-year-old Daniel A. Kearney of Stearns was located at the residence. He was arrested and charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and cruelty to animals 2nd degree. Kearney was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsy.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 11.
