KHSAA Board votes to implement shot clock in high school basketball beginning in 27-28 season

A big change will be coming to high school basketball in Kentucky in a couple years.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control voted yesterday to implement a 35-second shot clock in boys and girls high school varsity basketball, beginning in the 2027-2028 season.

The board approved the motion by a 13-5 vote.

KHSAA said in a press release 32 state associations across the country utilize a shot clock.

KHSAA said schools can begin getting accustomed to a shot clock this season, but not during district or regional contests.
