Portions of Lake Cumberland area labeled as “abnormally dry”

Portions of the Lake Cumberland area are labeled as abnormally dry by the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The northern half of Russell County is labeled as abnormally dry, as is all of Casey County, the eastern portion of Adair County, the western portion of Pulaski County, and most of Wayne County.

According to the Russell County Mesonet Station located in the Ono community, Russell County has received about 3.7 inches of rain in July and August so far.
