As the beginning of the new school year draws closer, drivers are being reminded about school bus safety.
One of the key things Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford is emphasizing ahead of the new school year is paying attention to bus stop arms.
Ford said there have been problems with vehicles passing a bus with the stop arm out, and noted that drivers are not allowed to pass a bus with its stop arm out while on the roadway or on school campuses.
The first day of school for Russell County students is one week from today, Wednesday, August 13.
