A Wayne County man is facing multiple charges after he reportedly stole multiple vehicles, attempted to steal an ambulance from the hospital, and attempted to run another man over.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said Anthony Dykes of Monticello was arrested and charged with attempted murder and three counts of auto theft.
Authorities in Wayne County said a call came into dispatch at around 11:30 local time last night of a man attempting to steal an ambulance from Wayne County Hospital. The man, identified as Dykes, was unsuccessful in stealing the ambulance but stole another car nearby.
Dykes reportedly fled to a family member’s house and stole a pickup truck.
Authorities say that Dykes reportedly wrecked and a passerby attempted to stop and help him, but Dykes stole that man’s vehicle and attempted to run him over in it.
The stolen vehicles were located and Dykes was arrested. He was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
