Russell County approved for public assistance from May tornado

Russell County has been approved for federal public assistance from the tornado that struck Russell, Pulaski and Laurel counties on May 16.

Russell County was one of 36 Kentucky counties approved for federal public assistance by President Trump.

Adair, Casey, Clinton, Pulaski, and Wayne counties were also approved for federal public assistance.

The public assistance program provides help to state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations to restore infrastructures damaged during disaster events
