The latest data from the annual Crime in Kentucky report shows 230 drug arrests were made in Russell County last year.
That is the lowest among neighboring counties.
There were 251 drug arrests reported in Clinton County last year and 259 drug arrests reported in Adair County.
The data shows 293 drug arrests in Cumberland County and 334 in Wayne County.
436 drug arrests were reported in Casey County last year. Pulaski County led the area with 796 drug arrests.
The number of drug arrests locally rose to 458 in 2021, but has decreased each year since, dropping to 328 in 2022, 255 in 2023, and 230 in 2024.
Some neighboring counties saw a significant difference in drug arrests from 2023 to 2024. Pulaski County reported 905 drug arrests in 2023, but saw that number drop to 796 in 2024. Wayne County reported 699 drug arrests in 2023, but saw that number drop to 334 in 2024.
Meanwhile Clinton County saw a significant change in the opposite direction, with drug arrests rising to 251 last year compared to 127 in 2023.
