A Russell County 911 dispatcher has graduated from the academy.
Skylar M. Coomer is one of 19 graduates from Class 166 of the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Public Safety Dispatch Academy.
Coomer is the third Russell County 911 dispatcher to graduate from the program over the last four months.
The academy is a four-week program. It encompasses 164 hours of academy instruction and is mandatory for any employee who will dispatch law enforcement officers by radio.
Graduates are trained on phone and radio procedures, how to use criminal databases, and emergency medical dispatch protocols.
