Wilson discusses local tourism economic impact

Last week on local news, we reported that new data showed a significant increase in tourism spending from 2023 to 2024.

That report showed an increase of around $6.6 million in tourism spending in Russell County last year compared to the year prior.

Russell County Tourism Director Danielle Wilson was a guest on Talk Around Town on WJRS last week and said that increase is one of the largest in recent years.

Visitors to Russell County spent more than $13 million on lodging and more than $11 million on food and beverage.
