Senate Bill 181, the law that places restrictions on electronic communication between school district employees and students, will go into effect on Friday.
Last Monday, the Russell County Board of Education voted to approve the app Parent Square and the school district email system as the district’s approved traceable form of communication under the new law.
However, Superintendent Michael Ford said it could take some time for Parent Square to be fully implemented and likely won’t be ready by Friday when the new law goes into effect.
Ford said several trips are coming up soon that will involve Russell County students and school district employees. The school district employees involved with these clubs and groups are working with parents on signing a waiver that allows for electronic communication between the students and those employees.
Ford was on All Things Russell on WJRS Friday discussing Senate Bill 181. He said the waiver allowing for electronic communication outside of Parent Square or school district email, has been sent out to school district employees.
