A multi-hour police standoff near downtown Somerset yesterday evening resulted in a man being arrested after he allegedly fired a weapon at Kentucky State Troopers.
69-year-old John M. Woody of Somerset was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a police officer and two counts of wanton endangerment first degree. State Police say more charges could be coming.
Reports came in just before 7:30 local time yesterday of several police officers stationed on Crawford Street near downtown Somerset. Nearby residences were evacuated after state police say Woody allegedly shot from his home into nearby residences.
