Local tourism spending last year up $6.6 million from previous year

Tourism spending in Russell County saw a significant increase last year.

New data released this week shows tourism spending in Russell County last year was around $55 million, which is up around $6.6 million from 2023.

That report said tourism in Russell County generated $3.8 million in state and local taxes as well.

Visitors to Russell County spent more than $13 million on lodging and more than $11 million on food and beverage.

Russell County Tourism Director Danielle Wilson will be a guest on Talk Around Town on WJRS this afternoon at around 4:15 to discuss tourism’s impact in Russell County.
