Fiscal court receives grant for new road project

The Russell County Fiscal Court has received a grant for a new road project on Crocus Road.

The fiscal court announced a grant for just over $133,000 from the Kentucky Department of Waste Management. The grant will fund a project to use rubber-modified asphalt on Crocus Road. The rubber-modified asphalt is made from recycled tires, and could lead to stronger, longer-lasting roads.

County officials say the project is expected to begin mid-August with plans to complete the project in September.
