A new report released this year shows more than 3,300 Russell County residents commute to another county for work.
The Kentucky Center for Statistics reports nearly 500 of those commute to Pulaski County for work, while just over 300 commute to Casey County.
274 commute to Adair County, and others travel much longer distances. Around 250 commute to Jefferson County and 184 to Fayette County.
Just under 150 commute to Laurel County and 140 commute to Cumberland County. A little over 100 travel to Taylor County and 80 to Hardin County.
The report identifies around 1,300 other commuters as traveling to “all other counties.”
The number of commuters leaving Russell County for work is up about 3.5 percent from 2024.
