Laker Baseball defeats Southwestern, falls to Boyle County

The Laker Baseball team defeated Southwestern on Friday night, and fell to Boyle County on Saturday.

The Lakers defeated Southwestern by a score of 8-6 in 8 innings. Owen Loy led the Lakers with 3 hits, driving in 3 runs. Mayes Gosser and Carter Stapp each had 2 hits, and Mason Jasper drove in a pair of runs.

Gosser got the win on the mound, entering in relief and pitching 2 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 3 batters.

The Lakers fell to Boyle County on Saturday by a score of 5-3. Jack Shearer led Russell County with 2 hits and an RBI.

The Lakers will look to pick up a district win on the road tonight when they go to Edmonton for a matchup with the Metcalfe County Hornets. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
