We’re continuing to track a bill in the state legislature that would allow 15-year-olds in Kentucky to apply for a driver’s permit.
That bill passed through committee and now heads to the full senate for a vote. If passed there, it will head to the governor’s desk.
The bill would maintain the intermediate license process for 16-year-olds. Drivers could apply for a full operator’s license at 17 if they have held an intermediate license for 180 days.
The bill passed through the state house by an 86-13 vote. State Representative Josh Branscum voted in favor of the bill and is listed as a co-sponsor.
