Adair County magistrate Daryl Flatt has announced he plans to resign from his position on the fiscal court at the end of March.
Flatt, who also serves as the EMS Director in Adair County, is retiring from that position at the same time. Flatt said because the two positions fall under the same retirement, his resignation as magistrate will go into effect at the same time as his resignation as EMS Director.
Flatt has served as a magistrate in Adair County for nearly 15 years and worked with EMS for 25 years.
Flatt released the following statement about his decision:
“I write this with the announcement that I will be retiring from the position of Magistrate effective April 1, 2025.
“As many of you know I also work with the Adair County Ambulance Service as the Director and will also be retiring from the ambulance service.
“I have served with the Adair County Ambulance Service for 25 years and have served on the fiscal court for the last 14 years. While this decision has not been easy and I have put it off for quite some time, it’s the best decision for me and my family.
Some will question if someone or something has influenced my decision, but the answer is absolutely not. I have always enjoyed serving on the fiscal court and being employed by the ambulance service, but both of these falls into the same retirement and when I leave one, I haveto leave both of them.
I hope I have served Adair County the way you have wanted me to (In most cases) and for the voters of Dist. 2, I hope I have been the voice you elected me to be.
My magistrate duties will end on March 31, 2025 but I will be available until then. Thank you to all who have supported me over the years and God Bless.
