Tennessee man charged in Adair crash that killed child makes court appearance

A Tennessee man facing criminal charges from a crash that killed a child in Adair County made an appearance in court yesterday.

Joel Hammack is accused of driving while intoxicated when he collided with a vehicle on the Columbia Bypass just over a week ago, resulting in the death of a second-grade student in Adair County.

Hammack was in Adair Circuit Court yesterday, where the judge sent the case to the grand jury and denied a bond reduction. Hammack currently has a bond set at $1 million.

Hammack is charged with vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol, DUI fourth offense or greater, and assault.
