Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston made a request to the fiscal court at a recent meeting for the county to look into purchasing and displaying a memorial in memory of fallen deputy Josh Phipps.
Polston said he believes it’s something that should be done to remember the fallen deputy and would be appreciated by the Phipps family.
The fiscal court was supportive of the idea, and indicated different options could be looked at.
At a recent meeting of the Russell Springs City Council, the council voted unanimously in favor of allowing Mayor Eddie Thomas to talk with county officials involved about contributing to the memorial.
More details about a possible memorial could come as soon as the January 13th fiscal court meeting.
