Laker go 2-1 in Gatlinburg tournament

The Laker Basketball team went 2-1 in the Smoky Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg over the weekend.

The Lakers defeated Geraldine, Alabama on Thursday, with Maddox Shearer leading the Lakers with 21 points.

The Lakers lost a close one to Gatlinburg-Pittman on Friday by a score of 82-76. Shearer again scored 21 for the Lakers, with Owen Loy scoring 19, Mayes Gosser scoring 16, and Dylan Stanelle adding 11.

The Lakers bounced back in their final game on Saturday, defeating Berea by a score of 74-32. Owen Loy led Russell County with 20 points, followed by Maddox Shearer with 11, and Logan Walters with 10.

The Lakers now sit at 7-5 on the season and will return to action Thursday when they travel to LaRue County to play in a 2A tournament matchup against Adair County.
