The ongoing project at Fishing Creek Bridge in neighboring Pulaski County could take longer than expected.
The District 8 Transportation office announced this week additional repair needs have been identified that could affect parts of the project schedule.
Crews closed the bridge for work on November 11. As they removed the old bridge deck, they found greater deterioration than expected.
These issues did not pose any immediate safety concerns, but the decision was made to replace the beams entirely.
At this time, it is not known how much of a delay this will cause in the project. The cabinet said they believe the overall project should be completed in mid-April.
