A residential fire over the weekend in neighboring Adair County left two people dead and sent a firefighter to the hospital.
According to officials in Adair County, the fire department was called out to a home on Bull Run Road just after 12:15 a.m. yesterday where the caller reported a home on fire and didn’t know if anyone was in the home.
Officials say the two-story home was fully engulfed and a vehicle in the driveway was also on fire. When firefighters were able to make their way into the home, they located two bodies inside. The fire department has not officially released the names of those involved, but multiple reports have identified the two individuals as David Collins and Charlotte Keezer.
A firefighter with the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department was also injured while on the scene. The firefighter was transported to TJ Health Columbia where they were treated and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
