More than 3,200 Russell Countians have already voted

More than 3,200 Russell County voters have already cast their ballot for this year’s general election.

According to data from the state board of elections, a total of 3,264 people in Russell County have already voted, either through absentee or early voting.

A little more than 2,600 local voters utilized the three-day early voting period and nearly 200 people utilized the in-person excused voting period.

587 mail-in absentee ballots were sent out to Russell County voters. According to election officials, about 76 percent of those have been returned, meaning 141 have not yet been returned.

The deadline to return those ballots is tomorrow at 6 p.m. A drop-box is available at the county clerk’s office.
