Hopes of one day building a destination resort on General Burnside Island in Pulaski County gained some more momentum after a recent feasibility study provided positive results to area officials.
Hunden Brothers, a real estate development advisory group out of Chicago, released the results of its feasibility study for the Dream Big Burnside group recently. The study shows the project, depending on size, could result in nearly 800 construction jobs, and have a 30-year economic impact of up to $737 million in spending.
The feasibility study gave a couple possible options for what a resort at Burnside Island could look like, which would include between 120 and 140 keys and 15-30 cabins. A potential resort could also include land and water rentals, a full-service spa, seasonal events, live entertainment venues, food and beverage outlets, and ballroom and meeting spaces for conferences and events.
The results of the study are expected to be shared with state legislators.
