Amendment 2 fails in Russell County, statewide

Amendment 2, the amendment that would’ve allowed the state legislature to provide tax dollars to schools outside Kentucky’s public school system, faced a resounding defeat in Russell County and across the state of Kentucky.

In Russell County, the “no” votes on Amendment 2 totaled 5,239 (63%) compared to 3,092 “yes” votes or 37 percent.

The amendment was defeated by a substantial margin statewide, with 65 percent of voters statewide voting “no” on the amendment.

Amendment 2 failed in all of Kentucky’s 120 counties.

Amendment 1, the amendment regarding noncitizens voting in Kentucky elections, was approved in Russell County with 5,524 “yes” votes and 2,591 “no” votes.

It also passed statewide with 62 percent voting in favor.
