A Somerset man was hit and killed by a train late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
According to reports out of neighboring Pulaski County, the Somerset Fire Department were called out Wednesday night to the West Columbia St/Mill St area where they were told a train hit a pedestrian.
The man was identified by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office as 34-year-old Edward Yanicko of Somerset.
When they got to the scene, they searched the area on foot before eventually finding Yanicko with a drone.
According to the Commonwealth Journal in Somerset, the train was traveling south-bound, and the engineer told authorities on scene that he saw the victim sitting at the side of the tracks, between the dual track lines.
The body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.
