Fiscal court provides start-up funds for Bicentennial Committee

The Russell County Fiscal Court approved providing $25,000 in start-up funds for the bicentennial committee.

With Russell County’s 200th birthday coming up next year, the bicentennial committee has been working to draw up events to take place each month next year to celebrate.

Judge Executive Randy Marcum spoke to WJRS News about the bicentennial.

The fiscal court voted to use what were referred to as “tribal funds” to provide start-up money for the committee. Those are federal funds the county receives each year.
