Suspect in Monday shooting identified

The suspect in Monday’s shooting on Bluebird Drive in Russell Springs has been identified.

WJRS News has confirmed the suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Joshua Arnold of Russell Springs.

Arnold died Monday night in what law enforcement described as an exchange of gunfire between officers and the suspect that also resulted in the death of Deputy Josh Phipps with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release from state police yesterday, the male subject, who KSP did not name, was transported to the hospital where he passed away. WJRS News was able to confirm through multiple sources that individual was Arnold.

The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing. We will provide more details as we learn them.
