A Somerset woman accused of pointing a gun at an optometrist last year was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
50-year-old Love Leanne Phelps, of Somerset, was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week in Pulaski County.
She was sentenced to 5 years on a charge of wanton endangerment, which was amended down from the original charge of Attempted Murder.
She also received 10 years on a first-degree burglary charge and five years for a receiving stolen property charge.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says Phelps went to the office of Eye Health of Somerset on Parker’s Mill Way in Somerset and demanded to speak with Dr. Tamela Murray. Phelps reportedly became irate while there, and threatened to kill the doctor, eventually pulling out a handgun and pointing it at people in the business.
After the sheriff’s office arrived on scene, deputies discovered the vehicle Phelps was driving was stolen from a local funeral home.
