There will be no school in Russell County today.
This is due to yesterday’s tragic events.
All extracurricular events and practices for Russell County High School have also been cancelled.
Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford released a statement last night, stating that yesterday’s events deeply affected many in the community, and while there is no threat to the schools, the emotional impact is significant.
The schools will be open during normal hours for any students or families who may need to speak with a counselor. Additional counselors will be on-site at each school, and school officials encourage students and families who need to utilize those counselors to do so.
Ford also reiterated in his statement that while games and practices were cancelled yesterday, there was no active threat to any of the school campuses.
