More than 250 applications for a medical cannabis dispensary license were filed in the Cumberland area, according to a report released by the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis.
The region, which consists of 14 counties including Russell County, is only expected to receive four dispensary licenses through the lottery process.
More than 4,000 dispensary licenses were received statewide, but only 48 dispensary licenses will be awarded through the state’s lottery process.
The Cumberland Region includes Russell and the surrounding counties, minus Adair, along with Lincoln, Laurel, Knox, Bell, Harlan, Whitley, McCreary and Rockcastle counties.
