Law enforcement and first responders from across the state were in Russell County this weekend, as many attended the memorial services for fallen Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Phipps over the weekend.
Law enforcement officers from surrounding counties, along with Louisville, Lexington, Covington, and other areas across the state, came in to pay respects to the fallen deputy.
Several other counties also sent in deputies to provide law enforcement coverage to the community while Russell County law enforcement officers attended the memorial service.
A procession of officers and first responders could be seen traveling on West Highway 80 Saturday afternoon following the services, as the body of Deputy Phipps was taken back to Columbia.
