Hurricane Helene brought major floods to areas across the southeast, including Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Some local efforts are underway to help provide aid to flood victims in these areas.
The Russell County Animal Welfare League and Foster Woods Folk School are collecting bottled water and dog and cat food for victims in Tennessee and North Carolina through the Knoxville Mutual Aid Collective. Donations can be delivered to the DAV at 155 Owenstown Road between 3-7 p.m. this Thursday.
A trailer will also be located at Club Fit in Russell Springs today for donations. Items such as water, non-perishable food, blankets, baby supplies, tarps, flashlights, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items are being requested.
