Debra Hembree Lambert, who represents a 25-county area including Russell County on the Kentucky Supreme Court, was recently elected Chief Justice of the state supreme court by her fellow justices.
Chief Justice-elect Lambert will serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 6, 2025. She has served on the Kentucky Supreme Court since 2018 and served as a judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals before that. Lambert previously served as a family court judge in the 28th District, which includes Lincoln, Pulaski, and Rockcastle counties.
The 3rd Supreme Court district includes Russell and surrounding counties, while stretching north to Anderson County, east to Harlan County, and west to Metcalfe County.
Lambert and her husband reside in Burnside.
