The Russell County Laker Football team was dominant from start to finish in Friday night’s win over Casey County, as the Lakers forced a running clock in the first quarter en route to a 51-0 victory over the Rebels on Homecoming night.
The Lakers jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first quarter and held the Rebels scoreless throughout the game, earning the first shutout for the Laker Football program since 2013.
The Lakers finished with 255 yards of offense on the night, while only allowing the Rebels to gain 34 total yards, as the Lakers forced 4 Casey County turnovers, including two fumbles and two interceptions.
With the win, the Lakers improve to 2-2 on the season.
The Lakers now prepare for a big district matchup this Friday, as they go on the road for the first time this season to take on the Lincoln County Patriots.
The Patriots enter Friday’s game 4-0, fresh off a 50-8 win over Bourbon County.
Kickoff from Lincoln County High School is scheduled for 6:30 this Friday.
