The Laker Band was named Grand Champions this weekend at the Barren County Invitational.
In Saturday night’s finals, the Laker Band was awarded Best Overall Music, Best Overall Visual, Best Overall Effect, and Best Overall Colorguard, along with being named Grand Champions, beating out Adair County, Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Warren East, and others.
Russell County also finished first in the prelims, winning Best Colorguard.
The band dedicated their performance in memory of Deputy Josh Phipps with a special memorial placed during the performance. The band’s next performance will be October 4th, where they will compete at the Bands of America Regional in Chattanooga.
