With a rash of recent threatening messages against schools in the area, Russell County Attorney Kevin Shearer and local law enforcement officers made stops at Russell County Middle School and Russell County High School Wednesday morning to speak to students about the dangers of making threatening messages, even if they aren’t meant to be serious.
Shearer spoke to WJRS News after the presentation and said Superintendent Michael Ford contacted him and asked if he would speak to students to make sure they understand the ramifications of what can happen if they post something or say something threatening.
Shearer said he also wanted to make sure students knew that he and his office, along with the school staff, can be approached to talk about issues.
Shearer was joined by School Resource Officer Troy Young, Jamestown Police Chief Jeff Kerns, and Russell Springs Police Officer Greg Brown. They presented at both the high school and middle school.
