Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford announced that additional counselors will be placed at Russell County Schools today as students return to the classroom following the tragic death of Deputy Josh Phipps Monday night.
Ford sent a letter out to parents stating that the school and district crisis response teams are in place, and additional counselors will be available at each school for any students and/or staff who need them.
As students return to class, Ford asked everyone to continue to pray for the Phipps family, the sheriff’s department, local first responders and the community as a whole.
Students are asked to wear blue to school today in honor of Deputy Phipps.
