Adair County Schools institute new policy on backpacks to address safety concerns

In response to recent issues involving threats and the possibility of weapons on campus, Adair County Schools implemented a policy beginning this week that prohibits students in grades 6-12 from carrying a backpack or large purse to school.

School issued Chromebook cases are allowed, as are small purses. The district defined a small purse as one small enough it could not fit a standard-sized notebook.

Lockers will be made available to any student who wishes to use one to store their belongings, and students who have bags for extracurricular activities will be allowed to store those in a designated spot in the school.
