Russell County ranks at the top statewide for most eligible children signed up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
According to recently released data, 80 percent of Russell County children under the age of 5 are signed up for the program that sends a book each month to their home, free of charge to parents and guardians.
That ranks as the highest percentage statewide along with Whitley County, which is also at 80 percent.
In Russell County, just under 900 children under the age of 5 are currently enrolled in the program and nearly 475 have already graduated from the imagination library.
The imagination library first launched in Russell County just over three years ago in partnership with the Woodland Farms Foundation, Russell County Early Childhood Council, and Russell County Schools.
Anyone with a child under the age of 5 can sign up for the program for free by clicking here.
