There are multiple closings to report in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday.
Local post offices will be closed today, so there will be no mail delivery today as well.
Several banks in Russell County will be closed. However, Bank of Jamestown and United Citizens Bank will be open today.
Russell Springs City Hall will be closed for the holiday as well. All Somerset Community College locations will be closed today as well.
Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th each year, is also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. The day marks when the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free.
