Threat of Severe Weather Hits Much of Kentucky

Severe weather outbreak across several states yesterday and last evening resulted in an active weather day in the Lake Cumberland area and across Kentucky.

Several rounds of severe storms moved across Kentucky much of the day on Wednesday, resulting in numerous severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings.    Locally, Russell County and Adair County schools dismissed school early, sending students home around 12 noon.    The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Russell County and neighboring Adair and Casey counties around 6:45 last evening.  Fortunately, no severe damage was reported in the area.   WJRS Severe Weather coverage was on the air continuously for much of the afternoon and early evening with detailed severe weather reports.
