The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team narrowly fell to LaRue County in the 2A Section 4 Championship on Saturday.
The Lady Lakers fell 2-1 as the Lady Hawks stole home in the bottom of the 7th to win the game.
In a defensive battle, the Lady Hawks scored first in the 3rd inning, and the Lady Lakers were able to tie the game in the 6th by way of a solo home run by Brylie Jo Hardwick, her 6th of the season.
Rylen McGowan led Russell County in hits with 2 on the day, with Hardwick and Nevaeh Duncan each recording a hit as well.
Hardwick pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up 2 runs (both unearned) on 7 hits and striking out 6 batters.
Following the game, Hardwick and Addison Hart were named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Lakers are scheduled to host Barren County tonight.
