The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team dropped a close one on the road in a district matchup at Cumberland County yesterday.
The Lady Lakers held an early lead, gaining a 4-1 advantage after 2 innings, but the Lady Panthers battled back tying the game at 5-5 to end the 5th inning, then scoring two more runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure the victory.
Addie Davis and Addy Abrell each finished the game with 2 hits, and Jaylee Roy and Brylie Jo Hardwick each drove in a pair of runs for Russell County.
The Lady Lakers have another tough district matchup on Thursday, going on the road to take on the Clinton County Lady Bulldogs.
