Jamestown Elementary, RCMS expected to have new principals soon

While the school year is heading into its final weeks, school officials have been working toward hiring new principals at two of the schools in the district.

After former Jamestown Elementary Principal Diane Blankenship retired at the beginning of 2024 and former Russell County Middle School Principal Wayne Ackerman was selected as the superintendent for Clinton County Schools, both schools will have a new principal for the 2024-2025 school year.

WJRS News spoke to Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford, who has been working with each school’s site-based decision making council on the hiring process, about where things stand in the search for new principals.

Rene Gossage has been serving as the interim principal at Jamestown Elementary and Keith Ellis has been serving as interim principal at Russell County Middle School.
