Wayne County man arrested following school shooting threat

A Wayne County man was arrested following a reported school shooting threat.

According to reports, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from employees at Wayne County Hospital about five threatening phone call messages left on their intake recording system.

The caller reportedly made a reference to a school shooting during one of the calls.

Through an investigation, deputies were able to learn the name of the caller and made an arrest.

18-year-old Trevor Cherry of Burnside was arrested and charged him with terroristic threatening second degree, a Class D felony. He was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
