Gas prices in Russell County are on par with other counties in the area.
Many stations in Russell County are selling at around the $2.99 mark, according to GasBuddy, and stations in Adair and Pulaski counties are selling at just under $3/gallon as well.
Prices in Clinton County are slightly higher, with many still selling at around $3.09 according to GasBuddy.
In Wayne County, prices are as low as $2.88, some of the lowest in the area.
According to data from AAA, increases in gas prices across the country, and particularly in the midwest, stem from a shutdown at a refinery in Indiana, which has been offline for more than two weeks due to a power outage.
